This week brings new Asian horror releases and regional theatrical releases across Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, India, Taiwan and Vietnam, and as always, I’ve included new cinema releases in other Asian territories releasing for the first time in that country..
Indian horror film Kankana was schedules for this week, but has now been confirmed to be delayed.
Indonesia – Khadam

Khadam is a Malaysian-Indonesian supernatural horror film getting its Indonesian debut – directed by Shamyl Othman which stars Aghniny Haque, Remy Ishak, Siti Khadijah Halim and Zarra Zaff., the film focuses on Melor, a mother who has to protect her family when a supernatural entity begins turning against them.
Indonesia – Urang Bunian

Directed by Rendy Herpy, Urang Bunian stars Adinda Thomas, Dimas Aditya, Naura Hakim, Fauzan Nasrul and Ruth Marini – the film takes its name from the supernatural beings of Minangkabau folklore and follows two friends who enter a forest in West Sumatra believed to be inhabited by the Urang Bunian.

Taboo (Also known as Nyepti and Taboo: The Silent Day) is a South Korean-Indonesian horror film directed by Park Kyung-kun, starring Kwon Da-ham, Choi Tae-eun, Della Dartyan, Sujiwo Tejo and Lee Jeong-hoon, about Korean tourists visiting Bali during Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence, and after breaking rules connected to the sacred day, they become caught up in a series of supernatural events.
Cambodia – My Death Wife

Cambodian horror My Death Wife is scheduled to open in Cambodian cinemas on September 17 – also listed under the Khmer title កាច់កប្រពន្ធចុង – although cannot find too munch info about this one.
Indonesia – Tha Rae: The Exorcist

Thai supernatural horror Tha Rae: The Exorcist gets a new theatrical release in Indonesia – a vicious demon defeated 40 years ago returns and possesses a former priest named Grandpa Ming – directed by Taweewat Wantha, the film stars Jirayu Tangsrisuk, Phiravich Attachitsataporn, Thaneth Warakulnukroh, Nichaphat Chatchaipholrat and Sawanee Utoomma.
Japan – Village of Eight Gravestones
Release date: September 18, 2026

Village of Eight Gravestones (八つ墓村) is a new Japanese adaptation of Seishi Yokomizo’s classic mystery novel, directed by Takashi Shimizu, where Matsuya Onoe stars as detective Kosuke Kindaichi, with Oku Tomoya, Mayu Hotta, Reo Sano, Yuki Onotsuka, Riko Nagai and Takamasa Suga also starring.
The story revolves around a series of murders in the remote village of Eight Gravestones and the dark history connecting the village’s families.
India – 418

Telugu horror thriller 418 centre’s on a mysterious building that has remained sealed for 15 years, with Room 418 at the centre of the mystery – directed by Kirtan Nadagouda and stars Chaithra J. Achar, Ramesh Indira, Surya Raj Veerabathini, Charan Lakkaraju and Preethi Pagadala.
Vietnam – Tế Nhi Cải Mệnh / The Tao Exorcist

Taiwanese horror Tế Nhi Cải Mệnh, also known by its English/international title The Tao Exorcist, opens in Vietnamese cinemas on September 18.
Directed by Chiou Hau-jou, the film stars Tsao Yu-ning, Tien Hsin, Kaiser Chuang and Chloe Xiang, where the story follows a heavily indebted man who turns to a forbidden ritual in an attempt to change his family’s fate, only for the supernatural consequences to affect his family.
Vietnam – Tà Sư Sám Hối / Confessions of a Shaman

Thai horror Tà Sư Sám Hối, also known as Confessions of a Shaman, is directed by Nattanont Cholumpi and stars Teeradetch Metavarayuth, Denise Jelilcha Kapaun and Shahkrit Yamnarm, which follows Tor, a former monk who turns to black magic after becoming disillusioned with justice, where he enters into a blood pact with a powerful shaman and begins using forbidden magic for revenge.

Vietnamese comedy horror Bóng Ma Nhà Hát is directed by Lê Công Sơn and stars Trâm Anh, Quỳnh Lý, Phương Lan, Hoàng Phi, Tiểu Bảo Quốc, Kiều Linh, Đoàn Minh Tài, Hứa Minh Đạt and Lâm Vỹ Dạ – Tuấn, a real-estate specialist brought in to revive an old theatre where he discovers the building has a ghostly resident – Nhã, a dead actress with unfinished business connected to the theatre.
