Here are this week’s Asian horror cinema releases – as usual, I’m including new theatrical releases, limited releases, and films that have already opened elsewhere in Asia but are now receiving a theatrical release in another Asian country.
*Indian horror movie Demonte Colony 3 is currently showing as a September 10 release, but posts on social media are now saying it has been rescheduled for October 1, although no official confirmation it seems, but I will include it in this list, but bear that in mind.
Indonesia – Suanggi: Ilmu Kutukan
Release date: September 10, 2026
Country: Indonesia
Genre: Supernatural Horror / Mystery / Thriller
Suanggi: Ilmu Kutukan follows Beni, a former singer whose career has collapsed and who has accumulated a large amount of debt, who returns to Kladum Island, but his arrival is followed by a series of supernatural disturbances.
Thailand – The Resident
Release date: September 10, 2026
Country: Thailand
Genre: Horror
The Resident, directed by Chaiwat Sitalasai, follows Bua, whose boyfriend begins planning a robbery with a friend, but the situation changes once they enter the mansion and discover that the property and its residents are not what they expected – Major Cineplex currently lists the film as สังเวย and list it for September 10 release, BUT, I have also read couple of bits about it being delayed, so I will go with the cineplex listing anyway.
Cambodia – Demonic Plastic Surgery
Release date: September 10, 2026
Original country: Vietnam
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Demonic Plastic Surgery (Thẩm Mỹ Viện Âm Phủ) – Thanh, takes a job at a remote beauty clinic while trying to save her boyfriend, who is lying in a coma, where Thanh soon discovers that it is connected to disturbing rituals, ghosts and a supernatural secret hidden behind its glamorous appearance.
Cambodia – Instead Services
Release date: September 10, 2026
Country: Cambodia
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Instead Services, listed in Cambodia under the Khmer title ដឹកសពចូលផ្ទ, centres on a service involving the transportation of a corpse, with the people involved discovering that the job is considerably more dangerous than an ordinary delivery.
India – Demonte Colony 3
Release date: September 11, 2026
Country: India
Genre: Horror / Thriller
Demonte Colony 3 is the latest entry in the Tamil supernatural-horror franchise starring Arulnithi, and the film continues the series’ connection to the notorious Demonte Colony – reportedly reshculed for October 1, but not confirmed as of writing so am including it just in case.
India – Ghun Gaon
Release date: September 11, 2026

Genre: Horror
Shanaya is a wildlife photographer who travels alone to the remote village of Ghun Gaon to photograph a rare black leopard, but the trip takes a darker turn when she discovers that something far more sinister is living in the surrounding jungle.
India – Dahaan: The Evil Within
Release date: September 11, 2026
Country: India
Genre: Supernatural Horror
Dahaan: The Evil Within is a Odia-language supernatural horror film – this is part of the growing number of regional Indian horror productions being released outside the usual Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets, with the story built around supernatural forces and an evil presence.
India – Video
Release date: September 11, 2026
Country: India
Genre: Found-Footage Horror
Video is a Kannada found-footage horror film directed by Srinidhi Bengaluru, who also wrote the film, and it follows a group of YouTubers investigating a supposedly haunted property.
Malaysia – The Mouths
Release date: September 10, 2026
Original country: Japan
Genre: Horror
The Mouths is the new Japanese horror film from Takashi Shimizu, the director of Ju-On: The Grudge, and is based on Sesuji’s horror story “A Questionnaire on the Mouth” which follows university students who visit a haunted cemetery as part of a dare – The Mouths originally opened in Japanese cinemas on July 3, 2026, and it now receives its Malaysian theatrical release on September 10.
Malaysia – Cek Khodam
Release date: September 10, 2026
Original country: Indonesia
Genre: Comedy / Horror
Cek Khodam is an Indonesian horror comedy centred on the idea of a khodam, a supernatural companion or spirit associated with a person, with the characters becoming involved with the consequences of attempting to discover or deal with a khodam.
Philippines – Poon
Release date: September 9, 2026
Country: Philippines
Genre: Horror / Drama
Poon (also known as The Hallowed) is a Filipino horror drama receiving a theatrical release in selected Philippine cinemas on September 9, and was selected for the Moscow International Film Festival before its Philippine theatrical run – the story deals with supernatural and emotional elements, with the film combining its horror material with a more dramatic character-driven approach.
Taiwan – Oh My Ghost! Oh My God!
Release date: September 10, 2026
Country: Taiwan
Genre: Horror Comedy
Oh My Ghost! Oh My God! (怎麼可能我家的祖先是你家的鬼) is a Taiwanese horror comedy written, directed and starring Soda Voyu / Su Ta, which follows Japanese entertainer Juliet, who heads into the mountains with her friends and encounters supernatural phenomena, thick fog and angry spirits connected to the area – it had some special screenings/meets and greets on September 4, but cinema listings show September 10 as its wide release date.
Taiwan – Possessed
Release date: September 11, 2026
Original country: Thailand
Genre: Supernatural Horror
Thai horror film Possessed receives its Taiwanese theatrical release on September 11 – a nurse returns to her rural home to care for her mother and takes a night-shift job at a local hospital, where she encounters a young man who is believed to have been possessed after an unsuccessful exorcism.
