Here are the Asian horror movies I could find for August 10–16, 2026, but if i have missed any, which will no doubt happen despite all the bookmarks and google alerts (God bless chrome translator), please get a hold of me if you so wish.
I was going to include an Indian indie horror film titled Do Not Disturb, which has been delayed a few times already, but is being listed in few places as August 14th release, but I couldn’t find any confirmation on the directors Instagram or Facebook pages, which seems unusual, so for now, will assume it has been delayed again and keep an eye on it – The same goes for another Indian horror Aayiram Jenmangal, with some listing it as August 14th but other sources saying it’s in limbo and not releasing.
Saying that, I have also have noticed that sometimes the very small film releases and trailers get posted literally last minute for some reason, and after I have done this roundup, which is frustrating, so I might either move this to later in the week, or maybe do last weeks releases rather then the upcoming week.

Indonesia – Perumahan Laddaland

Indonesia gets one of the more interesting horror releases of the week with Perumahan Laddaland, a new Indonesian adaptation of the 2011 Thai horror movie Laddaland, which follows Tomy, a man who takes out a mortgage to buy a new home because he wants to give his wife and children a better life, but unfortunately, the dream of owning a nice house does not last very long because strange things start happening almost as soon as the family moves in.
The original Laddaland was one of Thailand’s better-known modern ghost stories, so I am interested to see what an Indonesian version would do with it – the new film is directed by Awi Suryadi, the filmmaker behind several Indonesian horror movies including Danur: The Last Chapter, Pabrik Gula and KKN di Desa Penari, and stars Andri Mashadi, Titi Kamal, Anantya Kirana and Shakeel Fauzi Aisy.
Vietnam – Sợi Chỉ Đỏ

Genre: Supernatural Horror / Body Horror
Vietnam has a fairly strange-looking release with Sợi Chỉ Đỏ – a podcaster crosses paths with a young girl who has the terrifying ability to see the dead, while at the same time becoming connected to a serial killer who believes he is harvesting souls for Hell, and things get even stranger when an ancient red thread begins connecting the characters together, pulling them towards some kind of supernatural fate that none of them seem able to escape.
And then there is the seriously weird imagery surrounding the film – one of the characters develops what is described as a vertical eye on his forehead after suffering a terrible headache, while murders, ghosts and shadowy supernatural figures begin appearing around the story.
That sounds like the kind of bizarre supernatural horror that could go in some very strange directions, and this is probably the release I’m most curious about this week because the combination of serial killer horror, ghosts, body horror and the mysterious red thread sounds a bit bonkers.
The film is directed by Hàm Trần and stars Minh Anh, Trần Nghĩa, Ngọc Phước and Quang Tuấn.
India – Agadha
Release date: August 14, 2026

Genre: Horror / Mystery
Telugu horror Agadha also arrives on August 14, bringing a supernatural mystery involving a spiritually gifted woman, unexplained deaths and a terrifying place hidden away inside a forest – Mahadevi, becomes involved in a disturbing mystery after a series of tragic deaths and the mysterious suicide of her cousin, where her investigation eventually takes her towards a forbidden forest cave, where she encounters something far more frightening than she expected.
And this is not just a normal haunted-cave story. either, as the film has a very mystical atmosphere, with strange religious imagery and a huge supernatural idol featuring prominently in the promotional material.
Kamakshi Bhaskarla leads the cast as Mahadevi, alongside Shravan Reddy, Ulka Gupta, Jovika Vijay Kumar and Roshan Bashee, and Agadha is written and directed by M. S. Raju, where the film is being released as a pan-India horror movie in multiple languages.
The whole thing has a much darker and more mystical look than a lot of mainstream Indian horror, so this is another one I’ll be keeping an eye on.
Japan – Forte

South Korean horror movie Forte arrives in Japan this week, bringing another Korean genre film to Japanese audiences – the film is directed by Kim Bo Kim, and while it has not had anything like the international attention of some of Korea’s bigger horror releases, this is exactly the sort of smaller genre movie that can easily get overlooked outside its home market, which revolves around a disturbing situation in which the characters become caught up in a series of increasingly frightening events, with the film building its horror around the idea that something is very wrong beneath what initially appears to be an ordinary situation.
This is one I’ll be keeping an eye on because South Korean horror has such a huge range beyond the films that get international distribution, and Forte is another example of a Korean genre movie getting a new audience through Japan, which is always important.
Cambodia – Mencadin 2: Tamu Mayit

Indonesian horror film Mencadin 2: Tamu Mayit crosses over into Cambodia, with Legend Cinemas listing the film for release on August 13, featuring Dimas, who becomes caught up in a terrifying supernatural situation after a mysterious guest arrives and strange things begin happening around him, which quickly turns into something much darker as the presence of the mysterious tamu mayit – literally a dead-person guest – begins bringing death and supernatural terror into the lives of those around him.
Legend cinemas is a great resource BTW if you are interested in Cambodian horror.
Cambodia – The Cursed of Kampong Batu
Release date: August 14, 2026

Genre: Horror
The Cursed of Kampong Batu, is scheduled to release on August 14, and it’s about a cursed location and the supernatural events surrounding Kampong Batu, with the story centred around people who become caught up in the dark history attached to the place.
The available promotional material points towards a traditional supernatural horror approach, with the curse surrounding Kampong Batu becoming increasingly difficult for the characters to escape.
Thailand – The Confession of a Shaman/Sorcerer
Release date: August 12, 2026
Country: Thailand
Genre: Supernatural Horror
The Confession of a Shaman brings a story built around spiritual beliefs, possession and the darker side of shamanic practices, following, yep you guessed it, a shaman, whose work dealing with the supernatural begins to expose secrets that are much more dangerous than the spirits he normally encounters.
Taiwan – Mag Mag
Release date: August 14, 2026
Original country: Japan
Genre: Horror Comedy
Japanese horror comedy Mag Mag gets its Taiwanese theatrical release on August 14, bringing Yuriyan Retriever’s very strange genre movie to cinemas across Taiwan, about a woman who becomes obsessed with getting revenge after her crush is taken away from her – the film mixes horror and comedy together, giving the whole thing a much stranger tone than a conventional Japanese ghost story.
Mag Mag originally made its way around the international festival circuit, including appearances at Beyond Fest, Sitges, SXSW Sydney and the Singapore International Film Festival, before now getting a commercial theatrical release in Taiwan.
Vietnam – Điểm Mù
Release date: August 14, 2026
Original country: South Korea
Genre: Psychological Horror / Crime Thriller
South Korean film The Eyes is releasing in Vietenam under the title Điểm Mù, which follows Seo-jin, played by Shin Min-a, a successful photographer who is slowly losing her eyesight because of a hereditary disease, and then her twin sister Seo-in, who had already lost her own sight, is found dead.
As she starts digging into what happened, Seo-jin discovers strange clues inside her sister’s studio and begins to suspect that someone else was there when Seo-in died – the problem is that while she is trying to uncover the truth, her own eyesight is getting worse and worse.
This film is directed by Yeom Ji Ho and is a Korean remake of the 2010 Spanish horror-thriller Julia’s Eyes.
