Devil Cave: New Cambodian Horror Movie Explores a Mysterious Cave

Devil Cave 2026 movie still

We all know you get some stupid decisions being made in some horror movies, where you can see the disaster coming, and going into a mysterious cave called Devil Cave is very much one of them.

Devil Cave, or ល្អាងអារក្ស in Khmer, is a new Cambodian horror movie that arrived in cinemas on September 4, 2026, taking a group of young characters into the titular cave where things quickly move into supernatural territory.

A Cave, a Group of Young People and a Bad Idea

A group of high school students head into the mysterious cave, only to encounter supernatural forces inside, and that’s about as much of the story as I’m comfortable confirming at this point, because there isn’t enough reliable information yet, but what is clear from the available promotional material is that the cave itself is the central location and that the film is built around the things the group encounters there.

The marketing has also been fairly restrained, with Legend Cinemas own promotional material asking audiences to wait and discover what mysteries are inside it, accompanying the film’s theatrical release with the #DevilCave hashtag – it’s also hard to find reliable and a complete, verifiable cast and crew list.

The word អារក្ស also has a specific place in Cambodian supernatural belief and isn’t simply a Khmer translation of the English word “devil” – Cambodian cultural sources describe arak/areak as spirits associated with protection, care and supernatural intervention, with arak traditions historically involving ceremonies, offerings and music intended to invite or appease these spirits – the Khmer title ល្អាងអារក្ស connects the cave with arak, bringing a specifically Cambodian supernatural term into what otherwise sounds like a very familiar international horror setup.

About The Author

I am a fan of movies in general and watch quite a few every week, but my love for Asian horror started in the 90’s during the J-horror boom – you know the ones – and ever since then I’ve been hooked on discovering horror from across Asia, from the classics everyone knows to the hidden gems that deserve a much bigger audience.

On this site I explore Asian horror movies from across Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and beyond, since the big entertainment sites tend to focus only on the biggest releases.
