Japanese horror film Juku (呪区) is opening in Japan on October 16, 2026, with a weird premise: anyone wearing clothes becomes a target for the evil spirits haunting a cursed campsite.
Directed, written and edited by Seiji Chiba (Alien vs. Ninja, Ninja Hunter), the 71-minute horror follows Tsumugi, who heads on a camping trip with former members of her high school athletics club, where their campsite was once an execution ground where villagers were stripped naked and crucified hundreds of years ago.
After night falls, the victims return as evil spirits and begin attacking those who enter the area. Tsumugi and her companions discover that removing their clothes makes them invisible to the ghosts, leaving them with a bizarre choice if they want to survive the night.
The cast includes Yuri Minamino as Tsumugi, Yua Tsutsui, Asuka Shibu, Tomoka Yonezawa and Kaito. Special makeup and creature effects come from Souichi Umezawa, whose credits include Blood-Sucking Clay and the Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan series.
The film is part of Shochiku Broadcasting’s Extreme Selection label, which has backed provocative genre cinema, and has also been selected for the 59th Sitges Film Festival in Spain, where it is screening during the festival’s October 8-18 run.
