Never After Dark Gets US Blu-ray Release in December

Dave Boyle’s Japanese supernatural horror film Never After Dark is getting a Blu-ray release in the US on December 15, 2026, with Magnolia Home Entertainment bringing the film to both Blu-ray and DVD.

Moeka Hoshi stars as Airi, a medium who travels around helping spirits move on to the afterlife. She’s accompanied by Miku, the ghost of her dead older sister, which is probably not the most conventional travelling arrangement, but there you go.

Their latest job takes them to an isolated country house after its new owner asks for help with a particularly troublesome spirit, but unfortunately, this isn’t going to be a quick visit and a bit of ghost removal, as Airi discovers that the thing haunting the property is far more dangerous than she expected.

Kento Kaku, Mutsuo Yoshioka and Bokuzō Masana also star, with Boyle writing and directing -the filmmaker previously directed Man from Reno and The Wheel, and Never After Dark premiered at SXSW earlier this year before picking up the Grand Jury Prize for Feature Film at the Overlook Film Festival.

The film has already received its US digital release on October 27, so the physical editions aren’t too far behind.

As for the Blu-ray, Magnolia’s release includes Japanese audio with English subtitles and is Region A locked, and the final audio specifications are still listed as to be confirmed, and there hasn’t been a detailed announcement of any special features or collector’s extras, so this looks like a fairly straightforward release rather than anything particularly elaborate.

For anyone wanting to get a copy, GRUV currently has the Blu-ray available to pre-order for $16.99.

Never After Dark arrives on US Blu-ray and DVD on December 15, 2026.

About The Author

I am a fan of movies in general and watch quite a few every week, but my love for Asian horror started in the 90’s during the J-horror boom – you know the ones – and ever since then I’ve been hooked on discovering horror from across Asia, from the classics everyone knows to the hidden gems that deserve a much bigger audience.

On this site I explore Asian horror movies from across Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and beyond, since the big entertainment sites tend to focus only on the biggest releases.
