An unusual piece of Taiwanese horror history is getting a new lease of life on Blu-ray this December, with Neon Eagle Video preparing a two-disc release pairing Demon’s Apartment with Godfrey Ho’s notorious ninja action film Diamond Ninja Force.

Scheduled for release on December 8, 2026, the set brings together two closely connected productions, including the rarely seen mid-1980s Taiwanese horror film that was later incorporated into Ho’s wonderfully bizarre martial arts production.

Originally directed by Feng-Pan Yao in 1985, Demon’s Apartment is described by the distributor as a sleazy Taiwanese horror film and is being restored from its original negative and the best available film elements, where the film will receive its first US home video release, presented in 1080p following a new 4K restoration and reconstruction.

The story itself follows a family moving into a bungalow built over a mass unmarked grave, where it doesn’t take long for the mother to start experiencing strange supernatural occurrences, while her husband dismisses her concerns.

Things then start to become considerably worse when the spirits begin making their presence known, eventually leading to a disturbing possession involving the troubled ghost of a young woman.

The film reportedly features a wonderfully strange collection of horror moments, including severed heads in laundry baskets, vomiting ghosts, gambling-addicted spirits and some decidedly unpleasant supernatural encounters, and there’s also an interesting connection to Diamond Ninja Force, the 1988 Godfrey Ho production included on the other disc.

Ho’s film takes footage from several different productions starring Richard Harrison and combines it with material from Demon’s Apartment, creating one of the stranger examples of the director’s infamous cut-and-paste filmmaking approach.

Both films have received new 4K restorations and reconstructions from their original negatives and the best surviving film elements, with the Blu-ray presentations offering 1080p transfers.

About The Author

I am a fan of movies in general and watch quite a few every week, but my love for Asian horror started in the 90’s during the J-horror boom – you know the ones – and ever since then I’ve been hooked on discovering horror from across Asia, from the classics everyone knows to the hidden gems that deserve a much bigger audience.

On this site I explore Asian horror movies from across Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and beyond, since the big entertainment sites tend to focus only on the biggest releases.
