Style and Presentation
This is a found-footage supernatural horror that modernises the premise of Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum for Indonesian audiences while retaining its livestream format and escalating sense of dread.
The film builds tension through handheld camerawork, real-time exploration, and the constant pressure to keep broadcasting despite increasingly terrifying events, and creates unease through isolation, disappearing teammates, and the growing feeling that the hospital itself is manipulating those inside.
Cultural Context
402 Haunted Korean Hospital is an official Indonesian remake of the acclaimed South Korean horror film Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018), where the filmmakers combine Korean haunted-hospital folklore with Indonesian paranormal traditions and ghost-hunting culture, creating a cross-cultural take on one of modern Asia’s most influential found-footage horror films.
The production was also selected for its world premiere at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) 2026.
