Plot
In a quiet Indonesian village, something strange starts happening after the disturbance of an old grave site tied to a mysterious burial known locally as Makam Wurung.
At first it’s just rumours – people getting sick, strange behaviour, and a growing sense that something isn’t right around the village cemetery. But it doesn’t stay subtle for long.
As more people are affected, it starts to look like something tied to black magic and the use of cursed grave soil, and the families begin turning on each other, with the village slowly falling into panic as the source of the horror becomes harder to ignore.

Style and Presentation
This is a folk horror-style supernatural film built around Indonesian black magic beliefs, especially the idea of cursed soil taken from graves, where the horror comes less from the idea that something physically tied to death has been used for spiritual purposes.
The tone leans heavily into rural superstition, ritual practices, and the fear of disturbing things that are better left untouched.
Cultural Context
Indonesian horror often pulls from local spiritual beliefs, and this film fits directly into that tradition. The idea of black magic using grave soil is rooted in folklore where cemeteries are seen as places of strong spiritual energy – both protective and dangerous depending on how they’re disturbed.
Stories like this usually focus on how quickly fear spreads in small communities, especially when supernatural explanations feel more believable than logic.
Notes
- Based on Indonesian black magic folklore (grave soil curses)
- Village-based folk horror setting
- Slow-burn supernatural spread of terror
- Focus on ritual practices and spiritual consequences
