Zombie Horror Fans Finally Have a Real Update on All of Us Are Dead Season 2

All of Us Are Dead poster

It feels like everyone has been waiting forever for All of Us Are Dead Season 2, so any bit of news is enough to get all of us zombie horror fans talking again, and ever since Netflix renewed the series back in 2022, updates have been painfully slow.

Now there’s finally something worth paying attention to – the latest update didn’t actually come from Netflix itself though, it came from BH Entertainment, the agency that represents actress Park Ji-hu, who plays Nam On-jo in the series.

In a promotional post highlighting Park Ji-hu’s upcoming projects, the agency listed All of Us Are Dead Season 2 as part of her schedule – it’s a small detail, but after such a long silence it immediately got fans wondering if the zombie horror drama is finally moving forward again.

Of course, this isn’t the same as Netflix announcing a release date, as there’s still no trailer, no poster and no official premiere announcement, but even so, seeing the series appear on an official schedule is probably the strongest sign in a long time that work is continuing behind the scenes.

One of the biggest frustrations fans have had has been how little information has been shared since the renewal was announced, as normally we’d expect to hear about filming, casting updates or at least a rough timeline, but instead it’s mostly been rumours and speculation.

Earlier reports suggested filming would begin during the first half of 2024, so if that schedule had went ahead, fans originally hoped the new season could arrive before the end of the year, realistically though, a series packed with visual effects, action scenes and hundreds of zombies takes a long time to finish, so a later release has always seemed more likely, but even without an official date, it’s good to know the series hasn’t been forgotten.

I’m also curious to see where the story goes next because Season 1 left plenty of unanswered questions, where that final scene felt less like an ending and more like the beginning of something much bigger – director Lee Jae-kyoo has previously hinted that the second season will shift its focus, so while the first season was about humans desperately trying to survive the outbreak, he suggested Season 2 will explore survival from the zombies’ perspective.

That’s an interesting idea because All of Us Are Dead has never really been just another zombie show – yes, it delivers plenty of bloody attacks and frantic chase scenes, but it also spends time exploring friendships, grief, guilt and how people react when society completely falls apart, so adding some intelligent or evolving zombies into the mix could make things even more unpredictable.

The first season had become one of Netflix’s biggest international hits for good reason – it mixed intense zombie horror with emotional character drama, memorable deaths and some genuinely tense action sequences that kept me glued to the screen.

Unlike a lot of zombie series that run out of ideas after a few episodes, All of Us Are Dead also constantly found new ways to raise the stakes while making me actually care about who survived, so while for now, we still have no official release date from Netflix, and it’s worth treating every rumour with a little caution, but after months of almost complete silence, this latest update is a welcome reminder that Season 2 is still very much alive. (Hopefully)

About The Author

I am a fan of movies in general and watch quite a few every week, but my love for Asian horror started in the 90’s during the J-horror boom – you know the ones – and ever since then I’ve been hooked on discovering horror from across Asia, from the classics everyone knows to the hidden gems that deserve a much bigger audience.

On this site I explore Asian horror movies from across Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and beyond, since the big entertainment sites tend to focus only on the biggest releases.
