Confessions Of A Shaman Becomes Thailand’s Second Biggest Film of 2026 to Date

The Confession of Shaman (2026)

Thai supernatural horror Confessions Of A Shaman has become one of the biggest domestic box-office hits of 2026, reaching second place among Thailand’s highest-grossing films of the year to date.

The black magic horror, directed by Nattanont Cholumpi, has made a particularly strong start at the Thai box office, continuing what has already been a notable year for locally produced horror, and according to reports, Confessions Of A Shaman reached the milestone just five days after its theatrical release, putting it behind only the year’s current number-one film in Thailand.

Confessions Of A Shaman centres on Mor Tian, a powerful shaman whose mastery of black magic draws others into a dangerous world of supernatural forces, rituals and occult practices, where the film explores Thai beliefs surrounding black magic and spirits while mixing its supernatural story with revenge and family drama.

The main credited cast includes Alek Teeradetch Metawarayut (Teeradetch Metawarayut) and Denisse Jelilcha Kappoun (Denis Jaleelcha Kappoon), and Chakrit Yamnam plays Mor Tian, the shaman and master at the centre of the film’s supernatural story – BamBam also appears in the movie, but his involvement is best described as a special guest/cameo appearance rather than a primary lead role.

Thai Horror Continues Its Box-Office Run

The success of Confessions Of A Shaman adds another impressive result for Thai horror, a genre that has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to attract large domestic audiences, and with the movie still playing in Thai cinemas, its final position in the 2026 rankings could ultimately move higher depending on how strongly it holds in the coming weeks – for now, though, Nattanont Cholumpi’s Confessions Of A Shaman has firmly established itself as Thailand’s second biggest film of 2026 to date, giving the country’s horror scene another major theatrical success.

About The Author

I am a fan of movies in general and watch quite a few every week, but my love for Asian horror started in the 90’s during the J-horror boom – you know the ones – and ever since then I’ve been hooked on discovering horror from across Asia, from the classics everyone knows to the hidden gems that deserve a much bigger audience.

On this site I explore Asian horror movies from across Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and beyond, since the big entertainment sites tend to focus only on the biggest releases.
